This interpretation of an image of carved stone happens to bear the
special category of being the very first medium format slide of Utah
I scanned to make a print of. The kind of film I was using back then
had a quirky habit of becoming over saturated in blue casts, and this
image was a meaningful part of my learning experience with using
photoshop to do justice to one's vision of a desired image.
This image was also the starting point for a wonderful relationship
I have had with a small area of carved stone in lower Gravel Canyon.
I have managed to visit this small area of carved stone usually in both
the Spring and Fall of every year for the past 12 years. I find it to
be a touchstone for my years of experience photographing carved
sandstone - a wonderful and long-standing relationship with a place.
