This is definitely my favorite place in the Owyhee Mountains - the confluence of the Owyhee River and Battle Creek. It is a real challenge to get to this place because of the remote dirt roads. Over the years I have only been to this place three times. When the desert is green in the Spring, most often the roads are too wet to drive, and to get to this place requires driving far too much four wheel drive road ( close to 30 miles? ).

The first time I went to this place, the roads were good, but the first night it rained and snowed. It never stopped raining, and the drive out turned into quite an adventure. I think I counted the number of times we got stuck at about 28? For the trip when I took this image ( and several others ), I was very fortunate to have timed it well for the greens of Spring but with a dry road.
