This lake's official name is Saddleback. However, most people call it Shangri-La. Rising above Shangri-La is the large cliffed mountain called the Elephant's Perch. I have photographed this lake on many trips, but this is perhaps my favorite photograph. After spending a wet day hiking, exploring and photographing places upstream from this lake, I managed to return to the tent just in time to escape the heavy rain and lightening. For the fun of it I made a video of sitting in the tent, waiting for the weather to clear. When it did, I took this magical photograph.
