I have lived up in the mountains off highway 21 for 28 years now, and I find that every year is unique in some way. This yellow flower is quite common to the area around my home, but for some reason one Spring they were everywhere and thick ... I have only seen them bloom like this this one Spring.
Their official name is Arrowleaf Balsamroot, but I don't like that name for such a pretty flower. I call them sunflowers.
