This is one of my first successful medium format images. I had been
exploring and photographing the Sawtooth Mountains with 35mm gear
ever since the late 70's, but it wasn't until 2000 that I found myself
in a financial situation to buy what I had wanted to use as a camera
for decades - the Pentax 6X7.
This sunrise image is taken near the base of Thompson Peak, the highest
in the Sawtooths. The high peak on the far horizon is Castle Peak.
