This is definitely one of my most favorite photographs of desert
flowers. The natural arrangement is something I do not think I
could have improved on if given a chance. In addition, in a large
print you can see many colorful tracks in the sand from insects
and animals.
These flowers were located in Davis Canyon - a remote canyon near
the end of the Hole in the Rock Road in the Escalante river canyon
system. Davis Canyon is known for being the last known place that
Everett Ruess camped before disappearing in 1934. Everett is something
of a folk hero and if you do not know his story I would encourage
you to explore further.
